PLAYING DRESS UP FOR MY DAMN SELF

HAPPY DEEPO MONDAY BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE! I am back after being gone for a week and as you can see, no video today but I did want to give a quick update. I have been moving during a pandemic which means I’m doing a lot of things by myself…..and it’s been going well but ya girl is TIRED! Working + moving has kept me busy and last week, I decided to be very intentional about honoring the space I was in and removing the pressure from myself to post a deepo video. I want to be authentic in every way possible on this blog and last week would’ve for sure been a forceful and last minute post. So, thanks for being understanding and rocking with me during my moments of pause. Anybody else been needing to press the pause button and be still with anything the past few weeks!?

Anyway, in the midst of the move, pandemic and quarantined life; I have found so much happiness and relief in DRESSING UP FOR THE LIVING ROOM! LOL! Most of the week I’m in casual lounge wear and my hair is in a messy bun or ponytail. Some days I just look so rough that I don’t even want to look in the mirror- can I keep it real!? So having one day a week- #FormalFridays- where I’m committed to putting on some mascara, doing my hair and wearing a cute outfit that’s just sitting in the closet (or my suitcase for now lol), is making ALL the difference! It uplifts my spirits, makes me feel good about myself for a few hours and reminds me of the normalcy that I know we will eventually get back to. The brunch life we will eventually get back to! I know that not everyone is a fan of dressing up in regular life BUT I would argue that on the few occasions where you do get dolled up, you FEEL the difference. You smirk a little longer at yourself in the mirror and walk with a little more confidence and swag AND are more open to taking a selfie lol! There’s just something special about pampering yourself every now and then.

So I challenge you to give it a try at some point this month. Especially on a day where you may be feeling a case of the blues. Push through! Put on that song that hypes you up and give yourself a couple hours of glam…whatever that might look like for you! Cook in a dress or a suit! Do laundry in some heels or your favorite sneakers for my sneaker heads! Sweep the porch for the love of a photo ;) Hahaha! In 100% transparency, the photos you see on this blog post were taken this last Friday which was actually a hard day for me. I cried big tears Friday morning and woke up feeling super heavy. But after praying, speaking to some of my best friends in this life and getting the cry I needed out, I took the rest of the day into my hands and ended the day on a high note. Hot pink barbie blazer dress to the rescue!!! Oh, and Beyonce Savage Remix!!! Duh! Moral of the story, make the living room interesting! Make this shelter in place more interesting for YOU! And when you do it, tag me! I want to see your photos and I want you to have things to look forward to. Play dress up for your damn self!

XOXO,

Jasmine
